Finance Secretary Hasmukh Adhina on Saturday warned all the big companies to pass on the reduced GST (goods and services tax) benefit to the end-consumer or else the government will take some action. As the taxes for bigger items are now reduced, if the changes won't take place then government will catch the bigger companies.
The Supreme court, on Tuesday asked the Centre to bring a law to fix liability on people who can be prosecuted and made to compensate for the loss in mob violence. A divisional bench of Justice A K Goel and U U Lalit said a mechanism must be set up to decide such cases and district courts should prosecute and fix liability.
